Custom ROMs are alternative versions of the Android operating system that provide different features and user experiences. Installing a custom ROM requires an unlocked bootloader and a custom recovery tool like TWRP. Here’s a basic guide:
- Back up your device data.
- Download the custom ROM you want to install and the appropriate Google Apps package if the ROM doesn’t include them.
- Transfer these files to your device’s storage.
- Reboot your device into recovery mode.
- In the recovery tool, select “Wipe” and then “Advanced Wipe”. Select “Dalvik / ART Cache”, “System”, “Data”, and “Cache”. Then swipe to wipe.
- Select “Install”, then navigate to the location where you stored your ROM and Google Apps package.
- Install the ROM, then the Google Apps package.
- Wipe cache and Dalvik cache again, then reboot.
