Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), a unique institution devoted to the research, teaching and application of statistics, natural sciences and social sciences. Founded by Professor P.C. Mahalanobis in Kolkata on 17th December, 1931, the institute gained the status of an Institution of National Importance by an act of the Indian Parliament in 1959.

The Headquarters of ISI is located in the northern fringe of the metropolis of Kolkata. Additionally, there are four centres located in Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Tezpur. Research in Statistics and related disciplines is the primary activity of the Institute. Teaching activities are undertaken mainly in Kolkata, Delhi and Bangalore. Educational and other Qualifications:
A Master’s Degree (10+2+3+2) in IT or Computer Science/Electronics or equivalent; or Honours Degree (10+2+3) in IT/Computer Science/Electronics or equivalent with at least two years’ experience; or a Degree (10+2+2) and a Diploma of at least one year’s duration in IT/Computer Science/Electronics from a recognised institution and two years’ experience, or a Higher Secondary (10+2) certificate and a Diploma in IT/Computer Science/Electronics of at least three years’ duration from a recognised institution and two years’ experience; or other equivalent Degree/Diploma in IT/Computer
Science/Electronics from a recognised institution with adequate experience. Adequate Knowledge & working experience in Computer network maintenance, Computer operation & applications, and maintenance of software (Like UNIX, LINUX, WINDOW etc.) are necessary.
